Remembering my Dad + MP3 of the full song "Farewell Angel"
As I finish recording this album, I decided to record this song with an acoustic and a dynamic microphone I only use on stage, we did one take everything at once, no gimmicks, nothing technical. I wanted the song to come out like it would have sound, if I had sung it that day 3 years ago. I did not expect it to catch anyone attention, it was something very personal. Then something happened, many people who have listened to the album or had the promo version started calling me to tell me how they were touch by the song…
IN MEMORY OF MY DAD I WANT TO SHARE THIS SONG WITH ANYONE OUTHERE WHO CARES TO LISTEN AND IF IT TOUCHES YOU, COMFORTS YOU OR HELP YOU REMEMBER A DEAR ONE AND SEND A SMILE TO ETERNITY
WELL LET THE GOOD VIBES FLOW.
GOD BLESS
Farewell Angel
Sun has set
No candles will burn tonight
Sky is dark
No stars bring hope tonight
Shut my eyes
To escape my loneliness
Scream my lungs out
No one hears
In a room full of tears
I got no angel
To watch over me
I got no prayers
To be heard
Who listens anymore?
In my bed
I curled up like the boy I used to be
Try to hear
Your steps there’s only silence
Break from time to time
By my mother’s pain
I shiver
Spread too thin to cover
I got no angel
To watch over me
I got no prayers
To be heard
Who listens anymore?
You must be walking
This tunnel of everlasting life
Rays of light
Welcome you and warms you up
Will I ever
See you (and) touch you again
I got to believe it
I need to believe it
To go on
I got no angel
To watch over me
I got no prayers
To be heard
Who listens anymore?
Who listens?
Who listens?
When your angel is gone
Who listens?
Who listens?
Now that my Father’s gone
Now that my dad is gone…

KARLEX's concert at MIDEM reviewed by French Magazine "VOXX musiques"
Karlex,
public d’ailleurs…
Le 24 janvier, arrivés à l’heure dans la
salle mythique du Martinez, Karlex et
ses 4 musiciens montpelliérains - attitude
cool de rigueur - enchaînent les 45
minutes autorisées, balançant direct un
tempo afro goove soutenu, guitares
propre label Lilpeople Records.
Fruits d’un croisement revendiqué, Haïti-
USA, les 14 nouveaux titres balancent
entre nu soul, folk chaloupé et afrofunk,
le tout bouillonnant dans le chaudron
familial antillais. C’est le goût des
voyages qui forgera cette personnalité
contrastée, comme nous le fait entrevoir
sa biographie atypique. Extraits.
Fin des années 60, enfance au Cap Haïti,
la première guitare à 9 ans. Années 80,
Karlex vit à New York : l’afro-rock du
East Village est vraiment formateur.
Années 90, retour initiatique au pays
natal. Le musicien autodidacte renoue
avec le créole mystique de ses racines. Il
écoute les chants qui transcendent la
souffrance de son peuple, pris entre
révolte, transe et fatalisme. « Je renaissais.
L’appel des percussions dans la
nuit me poussait à retourner à la
véritable essence de cette liberté,
pour laquelle mes ancêtres avaient
combattu. Pour moi, rien ne la traduisait
mieux qu’un son issu des
années 60 et 70 ». Dont acte. PB

KARLEX'S MUSIC REVIEWED BY CATASK MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT
Karlex
Karlex brings in smooth and mellow sounds with a deep blend of funk, reggae, and soul. From the get go with conviction he brings in a caribbean folk flow with the deep track "Ghetto Fabulous". Be sure to get in on the funk disco rhythmic piece called "Madness". Very hot! From the southern region of France and representing an obvious love of music Karlex has been selected to play in this years MIDEM© 2006. After moving to New York city during his teen years, Karlex has played with many diverse rock bands and has honed influences of artists as nice as The Pixies, The Cure, David Bowie and Living Color. Une affaire de coeur! Merci Karlex.Standout Tracks: "Madness, Ghetto Fabulous"
Genre: Folk/Funk/Pop

Karlex /Beat Assaillant/ Selasse/ The Spectaculars
I will be sharing the stage at MIDEM with these great musicians. I have been to their web site and was completely blown away by the quality of their music.
Beat Assaillant is quite known here, I 've been listening to his music on Radio Nova, the best independent radio in France. Some of my friends that have seen him at Radio Nova's " LES NUITS ZEBREES" have only one word to describe him "REGAL" It's quite an honor to share the stage with those guys
